The McLennan Curling Club is setting aside a limited number of tickets for an upcoming fundraiser scheduled for October.
"We have 60 tickets available for our Octoberfest fundraiser," says curling club president Rita L'Heureux.
The Oct. 13 event is taking place at the curling club's lounge/banquet facility in the upstairs of H.W. Fish Arena and will include plenty of socializing and entertainment as well as a German-based dinner, music and a fundraising raffle.
L'Heureux says tickets are available (in advance only) for $25 each.
They can be purchased by contacting her directly at (780)-324-3052.
All proceeds are being used to help pay off a loan with the municipality dating back to the construction of the banquet facility.
The Town of McLennan agreed to subsidize roughly $240,000 in funding in the summer of 2010 as part of a municipal borrowing bylaw.
That funding formed the basis of a loan agreement with the curling club to construct the banquet facility.
The loan is being recovered through a re-payment agreement between the two sides.
Additional funding support for the local project has been achieved in several ways, including a provincial Community Facilities Enhancement Program grant (in the amount of $125,000) and the Municipal District of Smoky River 130, which provided cash through its recreational capital funding program.
