Residents in the Smoky River region are invited to attend a special fundraising jewelry party on Oct. 27 in McLennan in support of local resident Teresa Woo.
Joanna Bisley, who helped launch “The Friends of Teresa” group earlier this year, says the upcoming event will take place at the Golden Age Club in McLennan between the hours of 1 and 4 p.m.
The jewelry party is being coordinated to help raise timely funds to send local Multiple Sclerosis patient Teresa Woo to Seattle for MS treatment.
"To date, we have successfully raised approximately $4,000 for Teresa (who plans to be at the jewelry party)," says Bisley, adding that the targeted goal is set at $10,000.
“We are a community-based group which is committed to raising funds to send Teresa to the Seattle Vascular Centre for testing and treatment to alleviate the symptoms she suffers due to Multiple Sclerosis,” Bisley explains.
Woo was diagnosed with MS 18 years ago and is now in her early 40’s.
She hopes to receive the Chronic Cerebrospinal Venous Insufficiency Treatment from the US-based clinic through the support of local community donations.
