Holy Family Catholic Regional Division No. 37 has hand-picked its nominee for the 2012 Edwin Parr Teacher Award.
Angela Boisvert, a first-jyear unior high Math, Language Arts/French Immersion teacher at Glenmary School in Peace River, was recently selected by the school division as its selection for the prestigious award.
The graduate of the University of Alberta, was selected based on her ongoing commitment to creating a caring, supportive learning environment which accommodates all learning styles.
“Angela’s students are required to attempt different strategies for solving problems, but are also left the freedom to choose the method which makes the most sense for their individual learning style,” says Glenmary School Principal John Wiedrick in Boisvert’s Teacher Evaluation.
“Angela presents multiple strategies for her students to learn the concepts presented. Visual representations, individual work, group work and real life connections are all present in the lessons we observed,” he adds.
HFCRD's board of trustees is responsible for nominating one first-year teacher within the division each year for the Edwin Parr Teacher Award.
Boisvert is now being considered to be selected as one of six winners of the Edwin Parr Award, selected by the Alberta School Boards’ Association.
Gold watches and framed certificates will be presented to the winners of this year's Edwin Parr Teacher Award at the ASBA fall general meeting.
