Moose on the loose in Town of Falher

You just never know what to expect when it comes to wildlife. On the morning of Jan. 3, the two moose in the photo above took a leisurely stroll through Falher. Staff at the Smoky River Express were shocked to see them trot right by the office, giving them barely enough time to snap a few photos. They made their way east across Main Street and into the residential area of Falher. Where they went after that is unknown. This isn't the first unusual moose encounter in the area. In early 2012, an Albino moose with rare white markings and blue eyes was spotted in the area and captured on film by Falher resident Maurice Chenard. A framed photo of that moose is on the wall in the Smoky River Tourism Centre. The odd coyote has run through the middle of Falher, too, including one in the summer of 2012. Last week's moose appearance in Falher is an important reminder to motorists to be on the lookout for wildlife at all times.
