Above, left-right, are Gilbert Lauze, former Falher Pirates captain Robert Maisonneuve and Roland Turcotte. Lauze and Turcotte were honoured during a ceremony in the Falher Regional Recreation Complex Jan. 26. They saw their jerseys unfurled on the wall with other Pirates jerseys, making them retired. Lauze and Turcotte also received Pirates jerseys and framed plaques with their numbers.

A ‘Family Day Unplugged’ theme for this year’s event

Smoky River Family & Community Support Services is encouraging families to take photos of their Family Day activities and send them in as part of a contest.


McLennan residents receive QE II Diamond Jubilee medals

Peace River Member of Parliament Chris Warkentin acknowledged the outstanding efforts of 50 Peace Country residents, including three from the Smoky River region, in Grande Prairie Jan. 22 by presenting them with the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Medal.
