Kids do their part for nature, plant trees by arena


Children in the Youth Fusion Program at École Routhier in Falher planted white spruce seedlings outside the Falher Regional Recreation Complex on May 6. The students are in grades 4-6 and the program is under Smoky River Family and Community Support Services. The event was part of Forest Week, which was held May 4-10 throughout the province. Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development delivered close to 70,000 tree seedlings to Grade 1 students throughout the province during Forest Week. It is a long-standing tradition to teach the value of trees and their positive contribution to the Alberta way of life.



Estimated $3 million in MSI funds comes to region in 2014

Municipalities within the Smoky River region will share more than $3 million in funding through the Government of Alberta’s 2014 Municipal Sustainability Initiative (MSI) Program.
