A Stony Plain-based investment group specializing in the construction of homes and mobile homes is following through on its commitment to bring affordable, and appealing, housing accommodations to McLennan. Dennis Comeau, director and project manager for Denco Investment Group Ltd. (a division of Denco Shutdown Services Inc.), confirms the company is officially breaking ground in McLennan early this month. “We’ve been pretty much at the mercy of the weather up until now,” says Comeau, adding that site preparation and landscaping work on five vacant mobile home lots in McLennan is commencing over the course of the next couple weeks as part of the development company’s initial focus. “We’ll have two brand new mobile home units (measuring 16-feet wide by 76-feet in length) located on site by the end of the month, both of which are for sale.” The company, which was given the green light by the municipality last summer to proceed with its proposed housing development blueprint in the community, successfully acquired 23 lots from the municipality within the past year. The breakdown includes 15 residential lots on the south side, the five mobile home lots and three commercial lots situated just east of Kimiwan Lake Campground. Comeau also revealed to the Express that the company recently inked a deal with BarrCana Homes Inc. of Barrhead for the construction of modern modular homes in the community on the remaining 15 lots. “We’re extremely pleased and excited to have a reputable company like BarrCana working closely with us to meet the growing residential housing demands in McLennan,” says Comeau. BarrCana’s new multi-million dollar manufactured and modular housing production facility opened this spring with a main plant of 150,000 square feet. The company, which employs more than 200 workers, operates two production lines which are capable of producing an initial capacity of 12 homes per week. Comeau says Denco’s affiliation with BarrCana Homes will provide potential home owners seeking relocation in McLennan with a diverse spectrum of designs and modern amenities. It’s all part of a long-term corporate business plan involving the construction of a commercial office in McLennan within the next year, surrounded by anywhere from six and 10 BarrCana show homes. “Our goal is to have everything set up by this fall or early next spring at the very latest,” he says, indicating that homes will be brought into town based on market demand. “We are committed to being the kind of company which is strictly hands-on when it comes to providing clients with ultra-modern homes and quality service in a ‘Want-to-live-here’ type atmosphere,” Comeau explains.
