Town of Falher council hosted its annual organizational meeting Oct. 15 after all seats were filled by acclamation in municipal elections scheduled for Oct. 15.
Mayor Margaret Tardif and Councillors Guy Beaudoin, Donna Buchinski, Stephen Carter, Philippe Dube, Victor Fournier were sworn in.
Council newcomer Germain Sasseville was absent from the meeting for a family matter.
He will be sworn in at the next regular meeting Nov. 5 and be appointed to several committees.
“As another term of council begins, I look forward to working with the six councilors and their many ideas they bring to the table,” says Mayor Tardif.
“My personal endeavour for the next three years will be to complete the Falher Regional Recreation Complex, plan and develop a new residential subdivision, and continue on the financial path that councils have developed.”
“We have a very well-maintained community,” says Mayor Tardif.
“We are one of the only communities that has a complete snow-removal plan, and our taxpayers truly appreciate it.”
Council members were appointed to several committees, boards, and organizations, as follows.
Deputy mayor – Donna Buchinski.
Policy review committee – Guy Beaudoin.
Subdivision and development appeal board – Guy Beaudoin and Stephen Carter, and resident David Gervais.
Employee relations committee – Guy Beaudoin and Victor Fournier.
Falher Honey Festival – (vacant).
Smoky River regional committee – Margaret Tardif.
Smoky River Regional Waste Commission – Donna Buchinski and Victor Fournier.
Smoky River Regional Water Commission – Margaret Tardif and Victor Fournier.
Smoky River Airport Committee – Philippe Dube.
Smoky River Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) – Donna Buchinski.
Smoky River Agricultural Society – (vacant)
Smoky River Tourism Association – Guy Beaudoin.

Christmas lights
New lighted Christmas snowflakes will be adorning the entrance to Falher this Christmas.
Council accepted a bid by invitation from Donnelly Machining and Fabrication to construct 20 snowflake decorations for the street posts along Main Street from Third Avenue to Highway 49, with a bid of $6,550.
