McLennan town council starts new term, new era

McLennan town council has finalized its committee appointments for the next three-year term.
The appointments were carried out Oct. 29 as part of a municipal organizational meeting aimed at familiarizing the new faces on town council (Mayor Don Regier and Councillor Lawrence McNeil) with the internal duties and responsibilities as elected officials.
All members of council were officially sworn in at the meeting prior to being delegated as municipal representatives on various boards and committees.
The following is a detailed breakdown of the committee appointment results.
Dwayne Stout: Heart River Housing, Smoky River Regional Water Commission.
Eckhard Christen: Smoky River Regional Airport Commission, Northern Lakes College, and the Children’s Resource Council.
Don Regier: Smoky River regional committee, personnel committee, disaster services committee, grants/resources committee, and recreation (McLennan Local Recreation Board).
Catherine Dunne: Smoky River regional committee, Smoky River Community Health Council, Mackenzie Municipal Services Agency, and physician recruitment.
Lawrence McNeil: personnel committee, disaster services committee, Smoky River Family & Community Support Services, and grants resources.
Robert Bisson: personnel committee, Smoky River Regional Water Commission, McLennan & District Chamber of Commerce, Peavine to McLennan road committee, Smoky River regional economic development.
Gary Braithwaite will serve on Smoky River tourism, Smoky River Agricultural Society, and grants/resources.
