The Falher Pirates won their first game of the season in the North Peace Hockey League after seven games, the quarter point of the schedule.
The Pirates hijacked the Valleyview Jets 6-4 at Falher Regional Recreation Complex on Nov. 29
Jason Bouchard led the attack with two goals, while Kohl Lloyd, Dan Aubin, Scott Hicks, and Jason Gagne added singles for the Pirates who jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first period.
“That’s a big win, a big win,” head coach Bob Maisonneuve said as he entered the dressing room after the game.
“This first win certainly takes the monkey off our backs.”
“We are now starting to attack the net and we’re getting some dirty goals.”
Falher goaltender Stephane Pelletier played solid in net for the Pirates who outshot the Jets 37-32.
The Pirates lost 8-2 to Grimshaw Huskies at home on Nov. 23.
Denis Rochon and Kevin Desbiens tallied goals for the Pirates who trailed 2-1 after the first period and 7-2 heading into the third period.
With the Pirates trailing 6-1 midway through the second period, Falher starting goaltender Mark Fournier was replaced by Patrice Blanchette.
Chris Holder popped five goals for the Huskies who were actually outshot by Falher 36-29.
The following night, the Pirates were pounded 11-3 in Grande Prairie by the Athletics on the road on Nov. 24.
Denis Rochon tallied two goals while Leo Giroux added a single for the Pirates who trailed 3-0 after the first period and 6-1 after two periods.

Upcoming, the Pirates host High Prairie Regals on Dec. 7, Spirit River Rangers on Dec. 8, and regional rivals Lakeland Eagles of McLennan on Dec. 14 at Falher Regional Recreation Complex at 8:30 p.m.
With the permanent seating scheduled to arrive and be installed this week, both home games may be rescheduled.
