Upwards of 80 seniors from throughout the Smoky River region gathered in Falher for the fifth annual Club Alouette seniors’ fun day on Feb. 20. “We had 77 register this year, up from last year when we had 56, and 113 served dinner,” says Jeanne Chailler, secretary of Club Alouette. “Everyone had a lot of fun.” The annual event is always held the third Thursday of February each year, she noted. Several seniors went home as big winners in carpet bowling, crib, and pool tournaments as follows. Carpet bowling First – Skip Marcel Trudeau and teammates Gerard Blanchette, Yvette Laflamme, and Doris Ouellette. Second – Skip Omer Roy and teammates Eugenie Roy, Marie Ouellet, and Pauline L’Abbe. Third – Skip Ronald Doyle and teammates Lucille Lapointe, Pauline Doyle, and Gertrude Benoit. -Cribbage tournament First – Eugenie Bedard and Simone Smathers. Second (tie) – Adrien and Mariette Tremblay tied with Annette Girard and Annette Trudeau. Pool tournament A event – Hilas Dion. Donnelly stages fun day on March 5 at Club des Pionniers. Girouxville fun day is set for March 12 at Club Etoile. McLennan fun day is April 2 at McLennan Golden Age Club. Registration beginning at 9:30 a.m. with games starting at 10 .m. For all events, registration starts at 9:30 a.m. followed by crib, pool, and carpet bowling at 10 a.m. There is no billiards in McLennan. Cost is $8 per person which includes lunch and cash prizes to be awarded. Everyone is welcome to participate or attend. For lunch only, the cost is $5.
