Falher’s 2007-‘08 youth curling program is going down in the books as another rock-solid success story.
“It’s been a great year,” says Falher Curling Club president Danny Turcotte. “We had a very active youth program this year with 38 kids, ranging in age from seven to 14.”
Youth involved in this year’s program officially wrapped up the season at the local curling club on March 6 with a supper, draws and prizes at the local curling rink.
All of the curlers took to the ice for a special draw to the button competition with the top four individuals at each position of lead, second, third and skip receiving an MP3 player sponsored by Parkland Fertilizer.
The winners included Louis Berube (lead), Nicole Gagnon (second), Jamie Russett (third) and Darren Turcotte at the skip position.
Each curler was later presented with a customized hoodie, which included their names, the Falher Curling Club and the year embroidered on the front as a special memento for their commitment to the program during the season.
The hoodies were sponsored by Marval Promotions, Top Gun and the Falher Curling Club.
Turcotte wishes to pass along a special thank-you to Jacque Berube and Denis Turcotte for mentoring the students this year as well as Rita Lapensee for assisting with registration and organizing teams for the season.
