The McLennan second-hand store has taken up new residence in the downtown core.
“Our new and revived second-hand store is now located in the building which formerly operated as G’zinta Flower Shop,” says manager Chris Jones, adding that they’ve also come up with a new name.
“Evelyn Thibault came up with the catchy name ‘Second LOOK.’”
Jones says the move to the new location recently has proven to be an extremely positive experience in more ways than one.
“This move has been very positive, not only for volunteer staff, but also for our valued customers. It’s much more spacious than the previous location (along Highway 2 across from the Golden Age Club),” she explains.
“There’s also much more windows and natural lighting, which offers better viewing to customers for our in-store display products.”
The store, which is owned and operated by the Lakeview Pioneer Society, has been up-and-running in the community for the past three years with the help of a dedicated core group of volunteers.
“We’re extremely grateful for all the support we’ve received from our volunteers,” Jones says. “Our volunteers have contributed well over 4,000 hours of their time since we first opened our doors to the general public.
All proceeds from the sale of goods at the business are currently being earmarked for the purchase of a kitchen garden, which will eventually be set up at the Manoir du Lac seniors’ assisted living facility located along the lakeshore of Kimiwan Lake.
The society is already well on its way to achieving that goal, having raised approximately $27,000 to date.
Jones, meanwhile, invites everyone in the community to an open house at Second LOOK on April 21 from 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. to commemorate the recent move.
