Three people are dead, including a 17-year-old McLennan youth, following a fatal early morning motor vehicle roll-over east of Kinuso April 11. Faust RCMP say the deadly roll-over, which involved a Ford Explorer, occurred just before 1:30 a.m. on Highway 2, approximately one kilometer west of Highway 33. Two of the five occupants of the Explorer, including the driver and a passenger, were pronounced dead on scene, with the remaining three occupants all in need of immediate medical assistance. A third injured occupant of the Explorer succumbed to his injuries while being treated at the scene. The remaining two occupants were transported to hospital in Slave Lake by both STARS Air Ambulance and ground ambulance services. Both survivors were subsequently transported to hospital in Edmonton suffering from potential life threatening injuries. Investigators believe the Ford Explorer and a gray Ford Mustang may have been traveling together, east bound along Highway 2 at the time of the roll-over. Cpl. Wayne Oakes, media relations officer for the RCMP, says it is believed the driver of the Explorer lost control of the vehicle moments prior to the crash resulting in the vehicle rolling into the ditch along the north side of Highway 2. The three deceased occupants of the vehicle have been identified as Tyler James Loyie, age 17 of McLennan, Ricky Joseph Davis, age 21 of Swan River, Alberta, and Brent Justin Credgeur, age 22 of Wabasca, The two injured occupants included an 18-year-old male and a 20-year-old male, both from Slave Lake, Alberta. The driver and lone occupant of the Mustang was uninjured. Oakes says RCMP continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the deadly collision. “A number of factors are being addressed as part of the investigation including the vehicle’s mechanical condition, speed, alcohol, and any other driving influences,” Cpl. Oakes explains. Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the two vehicles, or any other vehicles in the area at the time of the collision, to contact Faust RCMP at 780-355-3670.
