Peace River Oil’s Kathleen property up for sale

Is Peace River Oil Inc.’s plans to construct a multi-billion dollar oil upgrader facility near Kathleen going belly up? It’s a question many residents of the Smoky River region are asking these days after viewing a “property sale” advertisement in the Edmonton Sun last week. The advertisement from Calgary-based RSM Richter – one of the largest independent accounting, business advisory and consulting firms in Canada – involves the sale of 160 acres of land as well as the decommissioned ammonia plant at the intersection of Highway 2 and Secondary Highway 679 near Kathleen. Wayne Palmer of RSM Richer tells the Express that his company’s role in the sale is as trustees pursuant to the province’s Builders Lien Act. He also confirmed that Peace River Oil Inc. is not presently in receivership or bankruptcy. Don Allan, president of the Red Deer company was unavailable for comment last week.
