Za-hair-a Hair and Tanning Salon in Falher welcomed a new hairdresser last week to ease its busy workload. Kayla Jones, 18, who is originally from McLennan, returned to the area after graduating from the Eveline Charles Academy in Edmonton. “I had a really great experience at the Academy,” says Jones. “I am anxious to be back to the familiarity of a small and welcoming community.” Jones graduated from G.P. Vanier high school last year. She explains that she is very excited to have an opportunity to work with Lori Guerin at Za-hair-a. She says that as part of her training at the academy she had to complete four work experience days in a hair salon. Two of those days had to be completed at an Eveline Charles salon and the final two could be in any other hair salon. Jones decided to complete her two work experience days with Lori at Za-hair-a and she says that she is anxious to begin her employment at the salon. “I expect to have a lot of fun with Lori,” says Jones. “I think I will learn a lot from her.” Jones says that she is happy to work with Guerin. She explains that while she was going to high school she tanned and got her hair cut at the salon. “It is really nice to be home,” says Jones. “Everyone knows everyone and it is very comfortable here.” Guerin explains that having another hairdresser at the salon will help to ease the stress of the busy salon. “I’m excited to have another hairdresser (in town),” says Guerin. “We are so busy that we’ve had to turn away clients in the past.” Guerin says that it will be nice to have some new blood in the office. “Kayla is very comfortable behind the chair, she is a natural,” says Guerin. “It is nice to have someone fresh out of school with enthusiasm and fresh ideas.” Za-hair-a staff, Lori Guerin, Amy Hachey and Samantha Eldridge welcomed Jones to the salon on June 4.
