A new manager has started at the Falher Regional Pool. Erin Sawatzky, who is originally from High Level, took over the reigns as pool manager last Monday. Currently residing in Peace River, Sawatzky says that she is looking forward to a fun summer at the pool. “I have been a lifeguard for the last two years in Peace River,” she explains. “I’m anxious to try something new and challenging as manager.” Sawatzky was traveling through Australia when the Town of Falher approached her by email about starting a job as pool manager. She explains that her seven month trip ended soon after. “I was getting ready to come home anyway,” says Sawatzky. “When they contacted me I was excited about coming home to run the pool. She says that she is hoping the pool can provide some new courses to keep things exciting. Sawatzky explains that there will be a variety of theme swims this summer for the public. “We are hoping to get bronze medallion and bronze cross programs back at the pool this year,” she says. “We need to get kids excited about being lifeguards for the future.” Pool admission for children five years and under is $3.50 for the 2008 swim season. Youth under 18 and seniors will pay $4.50 and adults will be required to pay $5.50. Family rates will also apply at a fee of $13.50. Punch cards are available this year with prices ranging from $40 for seniors and students to $50 for adults. Season passes can also be purchased starting at $80 for a child, $85 for seniors and students, $95 for an adult and $200 for a family. Individuals can rent the pool this summer for $80 each hour. This year will feature public swim, lane swim, family swim, and lessons. During family swim, all children attending must be accompanied by an adult. Swimming lessons will commence in July.
