Sacred Heart Community Healthcare Centre in McLennan is currently undergoing a $750,000 facelift.
It's all part of a roof restoration project at the facility, which provides medical services to residents throughout the Smoky River region.
Greg Mann, senior project manager for Peace Country Health, says the project involves resurfacing of the roof and the installation of new drains, adding that the work was long overdue.
"This is an initiative which has been needed for some time," Mann tells the Express. "It involves upgrading the majority of the roof surface."
Funding for the roof restoration project falls under Alberta Infrastructure, which approved tenders for the work in February of this year.
Top Side Consulting of Grande Prairie was hired as the consultant company overseeing the project and is working alongside Standard Roofing & Exteriors, also of Grande Prairie.
Mann says the project began in early May and will continue throughout the summer.
"We anticipate a completion date by late July or early August, weather permitting," he notes.
