Smoky River Manatees score big at Fairview meet

Smoky River Manatees swim club went to a meet in Fairview where they competed in many events. Participants included Victoria and Chad Wiebe, Sabrina and Emilie Tanguay, Marina, Fernando, Edith, and David Sanchez, David Owens, Lauren and Dalyn Lauze, Stephanie and Nathalie Fillion, and Walker, Cruz and Quinn Cote.

Smoky River Manatees participated in a swim meet recently in Fairview, where the swimmers managed to pick up numerous medals. Results varied for each athlete, with children between the ages of six and 16 years old swimming. In the boys category participants included Cruz Cote, Walker Cote, Dalyn Lauze, David Owens, David Sanchez, Fernando Sanchez and Chad Wiebe. Girl swimmers included Quinn Cote, Nathalie Fillion, Stephanie Fillion, Lauren Lauze, Edith Sanchez, Marina Sanchez, Emilie Tanguay, Sabrina Tanguay and Victoria Wiebe. Finishing in first place for boys eight and under 25 m backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle was Cruz Cote. He also finished 2nd in 25 m butterfly. Quinn Cote, girls six and under, finished 3rd in flutterboard, fifth in both 25 m backstroke and freestyle, and 7th in 50 m freestyle. A fourth place finish was taken by Walker Cote in boys 9 and 10 category for 25 m butterfly, 100 m individual medley, and 50 m breaststroke. He also finished in 6th in 50 m freestyle. Nathalie Fillion finished 10th in 50 m, 12th 100 m freestyle and 16th in 50 m breaststroke in the girls 9 and 10 years old category. In girls 11 and 12, Stephanie Fillion finished 8th in both 100 m individual medley and 50 m freestyle, and 9th in 100 m freestyle and 50 m breaststroke. Dalyn Lauze competed in boys 12 and under competition with a first place in 200 m freestyle, 50 m freestyle, and 100 m freestyle meets. He also finished third in 50 m butterfly. Lauren Lauze, girls 9 and 10, finished second in 25 m butterfly and 3rd in 50 m backstroke, 50 m freestyle and 100 m freestyle. Finishing 1st in boys 15 and 16 50 m freestyle was David Owens. He also finished with 2nd place finishes in 200 m individual medley and 100 m breaststroke and 3rd in 100 m backstroke. David Sanchez competing in boys 9 and 10 finished 4th in 50 m backstroke. He finished 8th in 25 m butterfly and in 10th for 50 m freestyle. In girls 8 and under, Edith Sanchez had an eighth place finish in 25 m freestyle, 9th in 50 m freestyle and 18th in 25 m backstroke. Boys 9 and 10 category featured Fernando Sanchez who finished 3rd in 25 m butterfly, and in fourth in both 100 m freestyle and 50 m freestyle. Marina Sanchez swam to a first place finish in 100 m backstroke, and second place in 100 m breaststroke, 200 m individual medley, and 200 m freestyle. Emilie Tanguay finished 10th in 50 m freestyle girls category 13 and 14 years old. Sabrina Tanguay swam in the girls category for girls 13 and 14 placing 1st in 100 m butterfly, second in 100 m freestyle and third in 50 m freestyle and 50 m butterfly. In boys 13 and 14, Chad Wiebe finished second in 100 m breaststroke, 2nd in 100 m freestyle, 50 m freestyle, and 100 m backstroke. Victoria Wiebe finished th in girls category 9 and 10 years old 50 m breaststroke, and a 15th place finish in 50 m backstroke. In girls 9 and 10 year old medley, Quinn Cote, Nathalie Fillion, Lauren Lauze, and Edith Sanchez finished with a fifth place finish. In Freestyle relay 100 m race, the girls also finished with a fifth place finish. Finishing in 2nd place girls 13 and 14 category Marina Sanchez, Stephanie Fillion, Emilie Tanguay and Sabrina Tanguay finished 2nd in 200 m Freestyle relay.
