New teachers welcomed to area by schools

Schools throughout the region will be opening their doors to students next week.
Along with welcoming new students, the schools are also introducing new teachers to the region.
Georges P. Vanier high school principal David Doucet says that as a result of moving teachers, retirement or position changes, the Donnelly school has had numerous changes to its teaching staff.
“We have five new teachers this year,” says Doucet, “who are from many different regions in Canada.”
New teachers in Donnelly include Michael Robey, Brad Corless, Kataie Cullen, Christina Brushett, and Geovanni Solovano.
Robey is originally from Campbell River, B.C. He will be teaching junior high math and a transition course. The transition course is for new students coming to the school to make their arrival and amalgamation easier.
Corless is from Port Moody, B.C. He will be teaching junior and senior high computers, CALM, and social studies.
Cullen is originally from Nova Scotia. She is taking over the high school English reins from John McPhee.
Brushett, who is from Newfoundland, is teaching senior high science, chemistry and mathematics.
Solovano taught last year in Peace River. He will be teaching senior high mathematics.
Routhier school is welcoming three new teachers and a new principal.
Former vice-principal Richard Fournier is taking over as principal for the 2008-2009 school year.
Pascale Bourassa is teaching Grade 1 French. She is originally from the east coast but has been residing in Falher for the last few years.
Grade 3 French will be taught by Carolyne Duval. She is from the Edmonton area.
Grade 2 English teacher is Kim Corless. She is originally from Port Moody, B.C.
École Héritage has confirmed two new teachers and a principal, with a contract for one additional teacher still in the works.
Bridgette Kropielnicki is taking over the principal position from long-standing former principal Linda Arsenault.
Hannah Marinier has moved from Florida to start teaching English to grades two through seven.
Héritage alumni Gabrielle Bergeron is the new home room teacher for Grade 8 students.
She will also be teaching junior high mathematics, science and physical education.
Providence school and Holy Cross Cyberhigh have seven new staff members for the 2008-2009 school year.
Principal Linda Vandenberg named new staff as Karen Backs, Sister Mary Dorette Okoye, Fran Forsythe, Brenda Gagne, Rachel Dubrule, Bruce Chymboryk and Jason Blais.
Karen Backs is from High Prairie and will be teaching ECS and PUF (program funding).
Sister Mary Dorette Okoye is originally from Nigeria.
She has been in Canada for eight years, teaching in both Newfoundland and Alberta.
She will be teaching grades six and seven.
Fran Forsythe is originally from McLennan. She is the new special education coordinator. Brenda Gagne from McLennan is the new office assistant.
Rachel Dubrule, from McLennan, is the new teacher’s assistant. Bruce Chymboryk is a full-time computer technician and Jason Blais is the head custodian.
