Smoky River residents in search of effective ways to promote relaxation and stress reduction don't have to look any further than the Rainbow Centre. The Jean Cote area business which specializes in Reiki (a spiritual practice developed in 1922 by Mikao Usui of Japan) is owned and operated by Noella Poirier. She started up her new entrepreneurial venture in July of this year and has been running strong ever since, thanks to the support of a growing clientele base. "Reiki training creates competent and dedicated healers in a much needed time of personal and planetary crisis," says Poirier, a Reiki master/teacher who has studied and practiced a variety of metaphysical healing methods dating back to 1922. In its truest form Reiki is best described as a Japanese technique to help promote and foster stress reduction along with relaxation. "Reiki treast the whole person, body, mind and spirit, including demonstrations," Poirier explains. "It heals the cause and eliminates the effects of imbalance while energizing your entire body safely and quickly." This is achieved through a complete treatment which balances and aligns all the major centres (endocrine glands - Chakras) naturally. Poirier says Reiki is also useful for enhancing medical treaments, adding that it promotes qualities from within such as loving, caring, growing, compassion, wholeness, peace and serenity. "Reiki is not a religion or affiliated with any religion," she emphasizes. "The life force energy is the source of life itself and far older than any religious philosophy."
