Ecole Routhier students remembered the country’s fallen soldiers on Nov. 7 in honour of Remembrance Day. On hand for the celebration was Legion veteran Don Fish, who lives in McLennan. Celebrations included the singing of the national anthem by the entire elementary school, led by three choir leaders. Principal Richard Fournier was the master of ceremonies for the event. He read the poem Freedom, as a reminder to students about how the veterans helped give Canadians freedom and rights. In addition, both the French and English versions of In Flander’s Fields was read. Fournier says the school’s almost 300 students participated in the Remembrance Day celebration.
