Guns N Buns Fitness Centre officially wrapped up their first fitness challenge on Jan. 5. The 12-week Bee Fit challenge included seminars on healthy lifestyle and a support system via other participants. Fitness centre volunteer Lise Cote says everyone was overwhelmed with the results from the 12-week stint. “The last night was very emotional for everybody,” says Cote. “The results were fantastic and everybody was proud of their accomplishments in the 12 weeks.” A total of 55 people participated in the challenge. Cote says most participants were adamant about maintaining their log book entries, attending seminars, tracking inches lost and keeping an eye on their heart rate. “The challenge was about people finding a healthier lifestyle,” says Cote. “Each individual overcame many obstacles through the 12-weeks.” Winners for the 12-week challenge were in the women’s category; 1st– Raeden Couture, 2nd Lorene Owens, 3rd Anita Anctil. For the men; Victor Tardif came in first for most overall accomplishments. Sue Charest was also recognized for having 100 per cent perfect attendance at the seminars. Most overall loss, excluding winners, was Yvonne Hebert. Fitness centre volunteers held an open house for the public on Jan. 5 from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Their goal is to make the community comfortable in the gym surroundings. As part of a special addition to the fitness centre, volunteers have set a date for a personal trainer to come into Falher to help enthusiastic gym and community members. The personal trainer will be at the gym on Jan. 21, and will see clients by appointment only. This will include a morning consultation for a workout regimen, and an afternoon consultation to go through the program with the personal trainer. The gym is got a new treadmill on Jan. 8. For more information on the gym or to book a time with the personal trainer, phone Lise at 780-837-1709.
