Winter appears to be taking its toll on motorists in the Smoky River this year, especially judging by these photos. RCMP, Peace Country Emergency Medical Services and fire departments in the region responded to a pair of motor vehicle accidents within the past few weeks, including (above) a collision between a semi-truck tractor trailer unit and a snowplow at the intersection of Hwy. 49 and Secondary Highway 744 on the morning of Dec. 19. Emergency responders were also called out to a roll-over on Hwy. 2 Jan. 15 involving a northbound pickup truck, which flipped in deep snow after crossing the southbound lane.
