St. Isidore Carnaval will return the weekend of Feb. 13 to 15 with some new exciting entertainment on the itinerary. President Rachelle Bergeron says the weekend will include activities for the whole family, and should prove to be a highlight in this year’s regional celebrations. “We have an ensemble of attractions for a multi-faceted experience,” says Bergeron. “There will be beautiful decorations, music, games and many activities for every age group and interest.” The theme of this year’s Carnaval is Super Z’Héroes. This year, the Carnaval will feature many entertainment groups including Madame Moustache, Soir de Semaine, Joel Lavoie, Plein Soleil, Orchestre Maison, Groupes de Jeunes, Roger Dallaire, Zéphyr, and many local talents. “I had the opportunity to see Madame Moustache, a group from Montreal, when I was in Toronto,” says Bergeron. “They perform a really exciting form of country because they are young and dynamic.” Madame Moustache, Bergeron says, is a group everyone will enjoy. They will be playing on both Friday and Saturday night at the Carnaval. Soir de Semaine is a group out of the Yukon who play alternative rock music. They will be exhibiting their talent Friday night and Saturday afternoon. Many other activities will be available including; amateur and professional snow sculpture competitions, log sawing, Ultimate Challenge, broom ball, local artisans market and visual arts centre display, fireworks display, and crowning of king and queen. A beer gardens will also be available to adults over the age of 18 years. “We are hoping that a lot of people will come out to share in the great fun available throughout the weekend,” says Bergeron. “Our theme Super Z’Heroes will feature a miniature play throughout the weekend at different events. It should prove to be very fun.” Attendees can indulge in some great French-Canadian pleasures throughout the weekend at the Carnaval. The dishes will be part of the food booths at the event, including; Poutine on Friday night and Saturday, pancake breakfast at the Cultural Centre on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Tourtière, meat pie, soup and sugar pie will be served at the Cultural Centre on Friday and Saturday.
