"Fatal collision on Highway 2" A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Township Road 782 and Highway 2 has resulted in a tragic ending.
McLennan RCMP report that on Feb. 6, 2009, at about 2:30 p.m., a fatal collision occurred when a pickup travelling northbound on Highway 2 collided with a westbound car.
According to an McLennan RCMP press release, the collision occurred after the car failed to proceed safely from a stop sign on the township road.
The 72-year-old female driver of the car, who was not identified as of press time, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 49-year-old male driver of the pickup was not injured in the collision.
The name of the pickup truck driver has not been disclosed by McLennan RCMP.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the collision.
Traffic on Highway 2 was blocked for over two hours while emergency vehicles worked at the scene of accident.
