Dozens of seniors from throughout the region converged at Club Alouette Feb. 18 to participate in the annual Senior’s Fun Day. The event, which included carpet bowling, a cribbage tournament and snooker billiards tournament, kicked off at 10 a.m. and ran throughout the day with 73 participants. Winning the carpet bowling tournament was the foursome of Gilles Lamarch (skip), third Anita Hawthorne, second Dennis Hawthorne and lead Paul Dubrule. Finishing second overall was the team led by Robert St. Laurent, consisting of third Lucille St. Laurent, second Gerald Lapointe and lead Huguette Lapointe. They were followed by third place winners Marcel Trudeau (skip), third Yvette Laflamme, second Annette Aubin and lead Henri Paul Blanchette. Taking top honours in the cribbage tournament was Roland Lapointe and his partner Cecile Turcotte. Claiming second was Leonide Savard and Clement Savard. Third place, meanwhile, featured a two-way tie between the teams of Doris Benoit and Leon Hebert and John and Gemma Tokarz. Earning bragging rights in the billiards tournament was Gilbert Mackell in the ‘A’ Event, who was joined by ‘B’ Event winner Gilbert Maisonneuve. The next Senior’s Fun Day event is taking place March 11 in Girouxville at Club Étoile. Registration is at 9:30 a.m., with carpet bowling, crib, and pool beginning at 10 a.m. Entry is $10 per person and includes lunch.
