Falher, Alberta

Sick parents should be in jail

Emily Plihal

I was completely outraged last Saturday as I read a story in the Edmonton Sun pertaining to a set of parents who sexually molested their child.

Shortly after giving birth to the baby girl, the mother began sexually assaulting the child while the father of the baby would record the gruesome display.

According to court tapes, the father was using the videotapes of the baby as pornography. His sickness, and the mother’s sickness was alarming.

What kind of demented human being would use their child as a sexual toy?

Obviously incredibly perverse, these people should be sentenced to a death sentence. They were hurting an innocent child, who could not defend herself. The baby will be scarred for the rest of her life.

Her innocence was taken from her. There is no way that child will ever be able to have a normal relationship as she grows older.

The parents have ruined her chances of having a normal childhood and likely a normal adulthood.

Is it not the parent’s responsibility to protect their child from such horrible acts? Most parents try to guard their child from having to experience the wrath of a sick human being. What kind of chance does a child have when both of his/her parents are psychos?

In addition to hurting their baby, they were also sexually abusing their pet poodle. The man could be heard on videotape becoming excited as both the child and the dog were used.

As an aunt and a pet owner, I hope these parents are not allowed to ever see daylight again. If anyone ever hurt my nieces or nephews in this fashion, I would not allow the heathens to ever have one more day of joy in their lives.

Alberta Provincial Court must make a stand against the baby’s parents.

Somebody needs to stand up for the child to ensure she is never put back into the custody of her parents.

The court system would not only be failing the girl if her parents are set free, they would be failing the entire population of Alberta.

If they are ruthless enough to abuse their child, who says they won’t hurt another child?

After the mother was incarcerated, the father tried to get another woman to participate in sexual acts with the little girl.

There is obviously something horribly wrong with these freaks.

They should be given at bare minimum life in jail with no chance of parole.

They’ve taken their baby’s life, freedom and innocence, shouldn’t they be given the same treatment?

I would prefer to see them executed. In a case where there is no chance of rectifying a person’s behaviour, they should not have the chance to live.

Hurting an adult who can defend themselves is one thing, but hurting a tiny infant is a crime that is completely unforgivable.

If the court system allows these people to walk free, what does that say about our judicial system?

Lets hope these people never walk on public streets again. Some crimes are forgivable, these are not.

The parents are obviously in need of major psychiatric treatment.

How is it possible to protect the children in our community, if sick parents like these are set free?

Throw them into a jail cell, give them food and water (because we have to be humane) and never allow them to see daylight again.
