Town of McLennan held its regular meeting on March 9, with an exciting announcement of a train set being donated to the town.
McLennan chapter of Royal Purple will be donating a large train set to the town, which they will be displaying at the McLennan campground this summer, says CAO Tammy Stout.
“Council approved the donation of a large train set, large enough for children to play on, to the McLennan campground,” says Stout. “The train set was constructed for Royal Purple by the Falher Friendship Corner and donated to the Town of McLennan.”
DARE program
Councillors decided to table a decision of the donation of funds to the McLennan RCMP DARE program.
“Council decided to table the decision until after the next regional meeting,” says Stout. “They want to discuss the donation with other councils from the area.”
FCSS donation
Peace River Family and Community Support Services requested a donation from the town of McLennan. The request was denied by council.
“Council decided to deny the donation because it was unclear as to where the money would be used,” says Stout.
“McLennan council prefers to see funds from the community stay within the region. We have a limited amount of money to donate to projects, and we give the region priority.”
McLennan Water
A report was required by the provincial government for an operation plan of the McLennan water treatment plant.
“We have to submit a plan on how the water plant operates in order to meet license requirements,” says Stout. “A job was well done by Barry Whelen, who designed the plan for the town.”
