Ecole Routhier School in Falher is celebrating their 15-year anniversary with Club Moo, the school milk program sponsored by Alberta Milk.
“Nutrition and learning go hand in hand,” says Debbie Pietsch, Registered Dietitian with Alberta Milk. “Club Moo provides children the chance to have milk during the lunch hour so they don’t have to depend on less healthy options.”
Research has shown that students who drink milk at lunch are more likely to meet their calcium needs, and students who are well-nourished are readier to learn.
“Since most elementary schools do not have cafeteria facilities, schools have to make an extra effort to deliver cold, fresh milk,” says Alberta Milk School Promotions Coordinator Janice Chan. “Ecole Routhier School’s commitment to the program shown that they believe that good nutrition is important to provide to their students.”
It takes extra effort and commitment to keep a milk program running smoothly for so many years. In partnership with the school’s efforts, Alberta Milk’s Club Moo program offers incentives to students who purchase milk from their school.
Staff, parents and Milk Manager all help to ensure that students at Ecole Routhier School have access to the nutritious benefits of milk at lunch time.
