Georges P. Vanier School in Donnelly is celebrating a big accomplishment for students from its junior high.

The second annual science fair was held in Vanier early last month, and some of its winners had the opportunity to take their science projects to the Peace Country Science Fair. The fair was held at the NAIT Fairview Campus.

“We had two projects representing our school,” says G.P. Vanier teacher Kristen Lessard. “Jacob White and Jean and Jacques Brochu went to the event.”

Jacob’s project was Freezing Water while the Brochu brothers tested the effects of acid rain on seed germination.

The Brochu brothers, who also won first place amongst their peers in G. P. Vanier, also managed to come home with a bronze medal from the Peace Country Science Fair.

“It was a great learning experience for all involved,” says Lessard. “Our students had well qualified judges that came around asking questions and giving them suggestions. Congratulations to all the boys.”
