Falher, Alberta

Get your butt in gear this July and August

Express staff
Smoky River Express

Smoky River Family and Community Support Services will be sponsoring “Get Your Butt in Gear”, a morning workout to help with everyday health issues.

Starting every Tuesday and Thursday in July and August, the workout will begin at 7 a.m.

The Get Your Butt in Gear workout will be held at the Falher Mencke-Nicolet Log Cabin next to the town office.

One reason this morning workout is being sponsored by the FCSS includes the number of heart attack related hospitalizations has increased steadily over the past decade.

Being active can help protect you against heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis, arthritis, depression and some types of cancer. Along with healthy eating, physical activity helps you maintain a healthy weight.

There are many reasons why active living is a good idea for everyone. It’s fun to be active and meet friends and new people.

There can always be barriers to being active. Common barriers include lack of time, inconvenience , dislike of activity, accessibility issues, lack of confidence in being able to be active safely and correctly, and lack of motivation.

For more information you can call Jean Moore at 780-837-2220.
