The Falher Friendship Corner Association (FFCA) has been planning a new apartment and group home living complex to be built in Falher.
Bee Alive complex will cater to individuals who are in need of a group home setting, or those who are retired and still want to maintain control of their lives.
“We are looking to develop 16 apartments and five group home units,” says FFCA director Paulette Gosselin. “The development is based on a supportive living philosophy and approach.”
Services will be provided in the residential setting for individuals to maintain their personal lifestyle while still receiving support they need enhancing safety and security.
“The 16 apartments will provide housing for those who are able to live independently,” says Gosselin. “They will still be able to access 24 hour assistance for medical or emotional support through health programs, home care or other private support services.”
FFCA has already secured land and its architect has developed preliminary plans for the complex.
The land is located beside the Chevaliers Centre on Main Street. The development will be built on the two lots behind the Main Street property.
Construction could begin as soon as summer of 2010, assuming funding can be sought through Provincial Affordable Housing Request for proposals.
FFCA is trying to see what demand there is for the development and is circulating a survey to potential residents. They are asking that the survey be completed and returned no later than July 31.
If you would like additional information about the project, or would like to fill out a survey, please phone Paulette at 780-837-2153 or 780-837-2254. You can also request a survey via mail at Box 453, Falher.
Paulette explains help can also be acquired through FFCA to fill out the survey.
