Town of McLennan will be holding an open house for their new house development on Aug. 7 and 8.
McLennan CAO Tammy Stout explains the open house will allow potential buyers to see the home and evaluate if it will fit in their family’s plan.
“The open house will be held on both days from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.,” says Stout. “Come and see the home, and enjoy coffee and donuts provided by the town.”
The town began a beautification process for the community recently. The council will be promoting getting rid of old eye-sore buildings and trying to promote new development in the community.
The design is a Home Hardware package called Applecroft built on 55 Boufield. The home features three distinct bedrooms upstairs, a main bathroom, ensuite bathroom, and ensuite walk-in closet in the master bedroom. These are just some of the distinct features of the 1,399 sq. ft. House.
“The home was being built as part of an agreement between the town of McLennan and MoCon to build two houses in McLennan,” says Stout. “The home is now on sale through the town of McLennan, interested buyers can contact me directly.”
The projects were started to encourage new developments in McLennan, where town council is adamant about improving the aesthetics of the community.
The frame of the house was completed by MoCon Industries, but MoCon owner Will Moses explains the interior will only be complete once an owner stakes claim to the property.
“The finishing touches will be left up to the customer,” says Moses, who will complete the construction for the customer. “We are allowing them to chose their own wall colours, flooring, cabinetry, and counter-tops to ensure they’re getting what they want.”
Moses explains there are a number of benefits from purchasing a home such as the McLennan Applecroft.
“We are using the Arxx system, which is an insulated concrete foundation system,” says Moses. “It will decrease lost heat with dry wall on the interior of the home and stucco or siding on the outside.”
In fact, Arxx claims to be the only Insulating Concrete Form (ICF) that provides a solid-to-solid attachment for all finishing material (like drywall, siding or brick ties).
The system features re-bar horizontally and vertically within the two sheets of recycled industrial polypropylene plastic.
There is also a web stiffer system to provide extra support in the wall.
“This design provides strength in both directions,” says Moses. “It is a well-engineered basement.”
Moses explains the home also features an advanced heating system that will cut costs and provide an increased savings in heating and power.
“We have a heating system that is newer to the area,” says Moses. “We will have a gas boiler in the home and heating in the concrete floor in the basement.”
The cost of the house will be determined by the finishing touches chosen by the client upon purchase.
“We are trying to sell the house to a customer before finished so they can pick all the finishing touches,” says Moses. “We are giving a dollar allowance for each square foot of the house.”
