The 2009 Alberta Summer Swimming Association (ASSA) provincial swim meet was held August 14 to 16 in Edmonton at the Kinsmen Sports Centre.
Regional championship relay results for the Manatees are as follows:
In the girls 8 and under 100 SC m medley relay, Edith Sanchez and her Region A teammates Aarika Harpe, Amy Caspar, and Hannah Fjeld placed 3rd with a time of 1:32:25. Sanchez and her teammates Grace Pardell, Amy Caspar, and Hannah Fjeld from Region A placed 2nd in the girls 8 and under 100 SC m freestyle relay, with a time of 1:20:25.
In the boys 17 and over 200 SC m medley relay, David Owens and his Region A teammates Morgan Hogberg, Jake Sisson and Michael Miller placed 3rd with a time of 2:05:25. Owens’ team also placed 3rd in the boys 17 and over 200 SC m freestyle relay with a time of 1:48:39.
David Sanchez and Cruz Cote and their Region A teammates Jocelin Bouchard and Erik Labrie placed 2nd in the boys 9 to 10 100 SC m freestyle relay, with a time of 1:06:92.
In the boys 11 to 12 200 SC m freestyle relay, Fernando Sanchez and his teammates Jeremy Goudreault, Skyler Fjeld, and Jason Fyfe from Region A placed 3rd with a time of 2:07:71.
At regionals on August 7, Emilie Tanguay had a time of 2:55:65 in the girls 13 and 14 100m freestyle, and a time of 1:13:33 in the girls 13 and 14 50m freestyle. At provincials Aug 15 and 16, Tanguay had at time of 3:23:32 in the mixed 100 SC m freestyle SWAD/ASO, and a time of 1:19:85 in the mixed 50 SC m freestyle SWAD/ASO.

In the girls 8 and under 100 SC m relay, the Region E team of India McIsaac, Laura Jardin, Miranda Kasko, and Adora Kruger won 1st with a time of 1:20:62. The Region B team of Keira Mackenzie, Christy Wright, Riley Waples, and Tessa Humby took 2nd with a time of 1:28:65. The Region F team of Samantha Bleich, Janelle Stockton, Maeran Hinch, and Kelby Keeley placed 4th with a time of 1:35:70. Region C’s team of Lauren Higa, Anastasia Cipko, McKaylla Wildeman, and Lindy Justice came in 5th with a time of 1:39:12. Region D teammates Sydney McMurray, Shelby Paulgaard, Kyra McMurray, and Isabel Adams came in 6th with a time of 1:42:89.
In the boys 17 and over 200 SC m medley relay, 1st place went to the Region B team of Michael Clarke, Brendan Bachewich, Adam Gamble, and Lucas Gurba with a time of 1:56:50. 2nd went to Region C’s Matt McHargue, Christian Koller, Kevin Jocksch, and Alex Kagel with a time of 2:00:59. Region E’s team of Adam McColm, Daniel Hickey, Kurtis McBain, and Brendan Park came in 4th with a time of 2:06:43. 5th place went to the Region F team of Brent Gaudreau, Brent Fikowski, Stephen Tkach, and Ben Parker with a time of 2:10:02.
1st place in the girls 8 and under 100 SC m freestyle relay went to the Region E team of India McIsaac, Adora Kruger, Laura Jardin and Miranda Kasko with a time of 1:12:81. Region B’s team of Tessa Humby, Riley Waples, Keira Mackenzie, and Christy Wright took 3rd with a time of 1:21:13. Region D teammates Janessa Walker, Claire Halford, Isabel Adams, and Sydney McMurray came in 4th with a time of 1:23:64. The Region C team of Lindy Justice, Lauren Higa, Mkaylla Wildeman, and Jordyn Fifield came in 5th with a time of 1:23:68.
In the boys 9 to 10 100 SC m freestyle relay, the Region C team of Dante Chan, Destin Chan, Taylor Girard, and Chad Sieben won 1st with a time of 1:04:10. The Region E team of Thomas Nusl, Brett Sicotte, Kade Wist and Tanner Potaka came in 3rd with a time of 1:07:42. Region B’s Shaye Sommerfeld, Evan Baldry, Mack Flowers, and Carson Lux took 4th with a time of 1:09:06. The Region D team of Austin Jerke, Geordan Andrew, Kolby Johnston, and Mackenzie Bouma came in 5th with a time of 1:09:08. 6th place went to Region F’s team of Christian Gomes, Christopher Alexander, Sean Devisser, and Nathan Sydora with a time of 1:10:01.
The Region C team of Daylen Mackey, Ethan Candler, James Allan, and Gregor Allan won 1st in the boys 11 to 12 SC m freestyle relay with a time of 2:02:90. Region E’s Neven Kovacevic, Erik Nusl, Bryton Such, and Casey Wong got 2nd with a time of 2:05:61. Region B teammates Matthew Jamieson, Jayden Neumann, Tyler Moroz, and Lucas Kowalik took 4th with a time of 2:08:36. 5th went to Region D’s Taylor Hart, Anders Klein, Ryan Mah, and Aiden Kooyman with a time of 2:27:06, while 6th went to Connor Beagrie, Matthew Alexander, Scott Elgersma, and Brendan Attrill from Region F with a time of 2:27:59.
In the boys 17 and over 200 SC m freestyle relay, Region B’s Brendan Bachewich, Michael Clarke, Connor Jamieson, and Lucas Gurba took 1st place with a time of 1:42:00. 2nd place went to the Region C team of Matt McHargue, Kevin Jocksch, Christian Koller, and Alex Kagel with a time of 1:46:73. The Region E team of Adam McColm, Brendan Park, Daniel Hickey, and Kurtis McBain came in 4th with a time of 1:50:61. Region F teammates Ben Parker, Brent Fikowski, Stephen Tkach, and brent Gaudeau came in 5th with a time of 1:50:94.
