Munsch a Bunch of Miles visits Ecole Providence
McLennan’s Ecole Providence principal Linda Vandenberg accepts an autographed Robert Munsch book
from Sheralyn Dobos. Dobos is part of Munsch a Bunch of Miles for Literacy group that is visiting
various communities across the province to explain the importance of literacy in every day lives.
This is the third year the group has toured via bicycles across various parts of western Canada.
Each year, author Robert Munsch donates autographed books to the group to give to the schools
they visit. This year, the group started at their home-base of Camrose, traveling nearly 1,300
km across the province to make students aware of the importance of literacy. According to the
Smoky River Adult Learning and Literacy, reading is used in every day life at every moment.
Without realizing it, individuals will read almost every moment of their life. Dobos explained
the group is cycling across the province to raise money to support literacy programs in Camrose
and the surrounding area since 2006. Studnts at Providence school were impressed with the
action-filled reading session acted out by Dobos, Alan Ford, Helen Samm and David Samm, all of
Camrose. More pictures and information provide on page 2.

Falher proclaims May 29, 2010 day of the honey bee
The town of Falher has officially proclaimed May 29, 2010 the day of the honey bee. The town
decided to issue the proclamation after receiving a letter from Saskatchewan’s Clinton Ekdahl,
is contacting every level of government and asking them to make the same proclamation. He hopes
that as various levels of government proclaim a bee day, people will realize how important bees
are to food production. That in turn might result in more bee-friendly policies, and possibly
government funds to research the problem of Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD).
