Smoky River FCSS investigating addictions

Community concern is prompting Smoky River Family & Community Support Services (FCSS) to take a closer look at addictions.
Penny Fox, director of FCSS, says the organization has noticed a lot of talk in the community about people struggling with addictions over the past few months.
Addictions to substances like drugs and alcohol not only affect individuals, but their families and communities too. That means individuals but also their friends, parents and caregivers can be part of the solution to addictions. Finding solutions begins by better understanding the impact of addictions on our lives and working together to make positive choices.
During the next few months FCSS plans to take a serious look at addictions and work with other organizations to share information and advice on addictions with the community.
FCSS is asking everyone in the community to look around at how addictions, even the addictions of others, are affecting their lives. The organization is also asking for input from community members about what specific topics related to addictions they might like FCSS to address.
The organization is also always willing to respond to the needs of the community, whatever they might be. FCSS will do whatever is necessary to support the needs of the community, whether that is finding information, working with other organizations, building new local projects and supports or referring people on to other experts or organizations.
If you have any suggestions or questions about addictions in our community, contact Smoky River FCSS at 780-837-2220 .
