Santa and Mrs. Claus visit Falher

Santa Days were held in Falher on Nov. 28 at the Falher Regional Recreation Centre. Approximately 130 kids were on hand to take pictures with Santa and his wife Mrs. Claus. The Falher and Area Chamber of Commerce put on the event, which included Moonlight Madness on Friday night. Stores were also open late into the evening. Saturdays events included free hot dogs and hot chocolate for the children, as well as arts and crafts and face painting.

Local school division receives MELRA award
St. Isidore, December 3, 2009 - The Northwest Francophone Education Region No. 1 is proud to receive 9 mentions in the Minister’s Education Leadership Recognition Awards (MELRA) for the 2008-2009 school year. Receiving awards in both Improvement and Achievement categories, the NWFER distinguished itself by obtaining the awards in the most categories of all the School Boards of Zone 1.

Regional: Brush the dust off your old books and read them again
At one point or another, everyone should pick up a book they disliked and start reading it again, particularly ones that have been collecting a lot of dust over the years. Re-reading helps catch content that were missed, analyse the book better, and serve as a reflective exercise.

Up Front: When should teens have sex?
I honestly never though I would talk about sex in the newspaper. However; a mom recently approached me asking me to write an opinion article on teens having sex.

Outdoor Corner: Hunting calf moose in November
Wildlife Management Unit (WMU) 523 is one hunting zone in which moose calf hunting is legal assuming one has been successful in the draw for this species. The hunt runs from Nov. 1 to Nov. 30. Lucienne managed to draw a moose calf license so we set out each weekend to find her quarry.

Eagles dominate Pirates, keep top spot in East Division
Lakeland Eagles were out for blood last Thursday as they battled the Falher Pirates to maintain top position in the East Division.
