The Smoky River Region officially welcomed its 2010 New Year’s baby.
The bundle of joy was born at 12:23 a.m. on Jan. 1 at the Sacred Heart Hospital in McLennan.
Little Erica Morgan Russett was welcomed into the world by her proud parents Nikki and Tracy Russett, along with her four big sisters Holly, Smanatha, Jamie and Gabby.
The bouncing baby girl came into the world at a healthy birth weight of just over eight pounds.
“My original due date was Christmas day,” says proud mom Nikki Russett. “It has been very exciting but pretty chaotic at the same time.”
When Nikki’s due date arrived and swiftly went, Tracy started hoping for a New Year’s baby.
“I was hoping for the New Year’s baby,” says Tracy. “We started the count down at noon on New Year’s Eve. When noon came I told Nikki, ‘Come on you can wait another 12 hours’, then two hours would pass and I would say ‘just 10 more to go.’”
Tracy explained Erica has been sleeping quite well since being transferred into her crib two days after coming home. The Russett’s are excited to welcome the new bundle of joy and are looking forward to seeing all Erica’s firsts.
