An ongoing project in the Village of Donnelly by the Donnelly Recreational Society was given a helping hand in the form of $10,000.
The rec society received the cheque from the Village of Donnelly to help fund the park project that is set to be completed by the fall of this year.
“It is great to see that our village supports our project and is helping us to reach our goals,” says Donnelly Recreation Society president Cindy Maisonneuve. “This donation has put us so much closer to our total of what we have left to raise for our park.”
Maisonneuve explains there have been numerous donations made thus far to help support the park. The Smoky River 4-H Club donated a $100 gift certificate for the UFA to help with the cost of supplies once the project commences. They’ve also received $500 from Smoky Seeds that will be used to purchase new equipment for the park.
“We will be holding a Spring Fundraiser which is called Enchanted Gardens this spring,” says Maisonneuve. “We will be selling an assortment of plants, bulbs, and seeds for gardening this year. There are over 64 different items to choose from and 45 per cent of the profit will go back to our group.”
Maisonneuve says the group is hopeful the surrounding community will help by purchasing gardening supplies through the Donnelly Rec Society this spring.
The rec society is still looking for any amount of donations for the park, and would gladly issue a tax deductible receipt for your donation.
If you would like to make a donation to the park, or would like more information on the Enchanted Gardens fundraiser, please phone Cindy at 780-925-2332.
