Canadian troop doesn’t forget his home country, even while stationed in Afghanistan

Mcpl. Jaroslaw Dacko, son-in-law of Donald and Paulette Gosselin and husband to Carole-Gosselin Dacko, is stationed in Afghanistan. Dacko is an Electrical Optical Technician. Dacko proudly displays the Olympic torch for the 2010 Olympic Games and a copy of the Smoky River Express. This picture is taken in Afghanistan, where Dacko receives a copy of each edition of the Express from his wife. Despite being busy fighting for our country’s freedom, Dacko still manages to maintain a close connection with home.


Town of McLennan eliminates fluoride from water treatment
Town of McLennan has made it official. Council decided to take out the fluoride from water treatment process as of this month, to prevent the treatment plant from becoming a level 3 operational plant.

Childcare facility receives $36,000 grant from province
After a year-long application process, the Smoky Regional Childcare Society has received a grant for $36,000 from the provincial government.
