OBIT ~ Aline Houle, 1943-2010
|
Aline Houle, longtime resident of Falher, passed away on Feb. 10 at the Sacred Heart Health Centre at the age of 66.
Aline was born on May 15, 1943 in Girouxville.
Aline was a cheerful presence in many lives. She was an endearing wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend to all. She loved camping, travelling, cooking, laughing, coffee, and the company of others. We are all better people having known her and been gifted the time with her.
Aline had an involvement in many jobs in the Smoky River Region. She worked at the Guy School as a teacher’s aide, at Family and Community Support Services, and as a volunteer coordinator with Peace Country Health. She volunteered in the community with the Palliative Care Society at the Sacred Heart Health Centre in McLennan by spearheading the Palliative Care Room that her sons and families were graced in using in her last days. She also started the Red Hat Society Chapter in Falher, of which other chapters started in the Peace Country after the fruitful endeavour of the group in Falher.
We will all remember her camping with her motorhome at Winagami and eating wood-toasted bread smothered with cheese spread. Waling was a passion; nature left her awestruck, especially when having coffee on the deck at the farm site with her late husband Roger and the boys.
Aline was predeceased by her husband Roger Armand Houle, her father Joseph Laverdière, mother Malvina Laverdière, brother Roger Laverdière, and sister Jeanne Laverdière.
Aline is survived by her sons; Guy (Renelle) Houle, Lucien (Darlene) Houle, and Marc (Keli) Houle. She is also survived by numerous brothers, sisters, family and many friends. She is honoured with four grandchildren, Carla, Kolin, Siera and Cassandra Houle.
Funeral services for the late Aline Houle were held on Feb. 13 at the Notre Dame de Lourdes with Father Charles Lavoie officiating.
Organist was Nicole Beaudoin, and soloist Chantal Laverdière.
Pallbearers were Lionel Bouchard, Clem Benoit, Richard Laverdière, Denis Laverdière, Michel Houle and Paul Laverdière.
