OBIT ~ Robert Lavoie, 19**-2011

Robert Maurice Lavoie of Saint Isidore, Alberta passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton at 69 years of age.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Lorraine Chenard and her children Joanne Cloutier, Gilbert and Donald (Rachelle) Bouchard, his brothers; Evens (Marie) Lavoie, Léon (Hélène) Lavoie, Jean-Guy (Armande) Lavoie, Denis (Françoise) Lavoie, Roméo (Johanne) Lavoie, Richard (Lilianne) Lavoie, Daniel (Jacqueline) Lavoie and brother-in-law George (Henriette) Dixon, his sisters Céline (André) Langlois, Denise (Rémi) Cyr, Carmen (Larry) Crook, his sister-in-law Pauline (Michel) Lavoie; extended family and friends.
He is predeceased by his father, Philippe, his mother, Emma, his sister Henriette Dixon, his brother Michel and sister-in-law Ann Medema.
He worked as a farmer near Saint Isidore, Alberta for a total of 48 years before retiring at the age of 63.
For many of these years he was the general manager of the family farm where he was known for having a positive attitude, being a good team player and being an excellent organizer.
He focused on growing and developing the business with his father and brothers.
He managed the expansion including the construction of barns, an elevator, silos, and garages and planned for the purchase of land and equipment.
Robert treasured the family farm and enjoyed all aspects of agriculture.
He was a man with traditional and conservative values whose family, religion, community, culture and language were of great importance.
Robert was a generous man who took great pleasure in helping others without ever needing recognition.
From Robert we learned how important life is and how it should always be cherished.
To enjoy the moments with your friends, family and loved ones and that it is never too late to find your soul mate.
He also taught us never to give up and fight for your life to the end.
A funeral service was held Sept. 26 at the Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church in Peace River with His Excellence Archbishop Gerard Pettipas and Monsignor Charles Lavoie.
