|
Guy Turcotte, long-time resident of Girouxville, passed away peacefully in McLennan on Feb. 6, 2012 at the age of 75 years.
Guy Turcotte was born on March 5, 1936 in Jean Cote to Frege and Malvina Turcotte. Growing up, he attended Landry School for eight years after which he worked many years in a lumber camp for Savard brothers in Faust, Alberta.
During the summer, he would help out on the family farm.
On June 11, 1960, he married Henriette Begin and together they raised three sons, including Eugene, Daniel and Gilbert.
They lived in a small house in grandfather Turcotte’s yard until 1966 when Guy purchased George Henley’s farm. There, he farmed most of his life and even after selling the farm to his sons in 1999, he still went to the farm at harvest time to operate his favourite machine, the combine.
Throughout his farming life, he served on numerous agricultural boards and local committees.
Guy’s hobbies included camping in the summer at Shaw’s Point and spending hours in his beautiful garden as well as playing horseshoes and card games. Winters were spent at the Senior Club Etoiles where he played pool and cards.
Guy Turcotte is predeceased by his father Frege Turcotte, his mother Malvina (Girard) Turcotte, his brother Laurent Turcotte, brother-in-law Jacques Tailleur, sister-in-law Jeanine Turcotte, father-in-law Henri Begin and mother-in-law Honora Begin.
He leaves behind to mourn his loving wife of 51 years, Henriette, his three sons Eugene (Leona), Daniel and Gilbert as well as granddaughters Chelsea, Kathleen and Ashton, siblings Lucie, Simone, Albert (Therese), Lucien, Angele (Clement), Fernand (Huguette), Jean-Claude (Angele), Germaine (Bill), Richard (Margaret), Ubald (Pat), Therese (Julien) and sister-in-law Cecile in addition to numerous nephews and nieces.
Guy will be greatly missed by his family and all those who knew him.
A funeral mass was held on February 20, 2012 at Notre-Dame de Lourdes Church in Girouxville with Father Maurice Marion Deacon Reg Bouchard officiating.
