Maurice (Duffer) Anderson, 1938-2008
Maurice Alexander Anderson also known as 'Duffer' to some folks, died on July 7, 2008 after a lengthy stay in hospital.
He was predeceased by his Father, Maurice Alexander Anderson Sr., Mother, Charlotte Smith and Stepfather, Reg Smith. Maurice was 72 years old and farmed all of his life in Watino, Alberta.
He will be remembered by his children; Bert Anderson, wife Sandra and grandsons, Ford and Koel of London, Ontario, June Wyse of Vancouver, British Columbia, Eleanor Greeves, husband Allan and grandchildren, Warren and Erin of Cochrane, Alberta, Norine Johnson, husband Dean and grandsons, Samuel and Owen of Bawlf, Alberta.
He will be missed by his sister Edith Reisinger, nieces, nephews and great neices and nephews.
Maurice's passion for farming and being on the land was clear to all who knew him. Yet he loved to travel and meet people. He was an inventor and always dabbled in trying new things on the farm.
Later in his life he worked for the Canadian National Railways as foreman on the McLennan line. He farmed in the summer and worked on the rail year round.
Maurice enjoyed music, played violin and sang. He loved to dance, garden, fish, pick berries, play cards and was very involved in sports, especially baseball. Maurice was an avid knitter and made the nurses at the hospital many hand made items. He was very good with his hands and he was always ready to give a helping hand to whoever needed it.
He will be missed by his friends who helped him when he needed them most. Thank you to those who did so much for Maurice while he was in the hospital. Thank you to the McLennan and Grande Prairie Hospitals for their care during his stay.
In lieu of flowers the family requirest donations in Maurice's name be made to your choice of charity. Funeral services for Maurice Anderson are on July 23, 2008. Memorial Service at the Tangent Hall at 2:00 p.m. Internment to follow at the Watino Cemetery. He can rest now on his perfect farm in heaven and eat the fruit he has grown for many years with his mom and dad in peace. Bless you Dad. We will miss you.
