Lucienne Beaudoin, 1906 - 2007
Lucienne Beaudoin, former longtime resident of Tangent, Alberta, passed away peacefully in McLennan at Manoir du Lac on October 28, 2007 at 100 years of age.
She was born December 3, 1906 in Providence, Rhode Island, United States of America.
She arrived in Canada in 1907 and
Tangent in 1929
She arrived in Canada in 1907 in Drummondville, Quebec where her brother and two sisters were born.
At the age of seven years, Lucienne’s mother passed away, so she became a very young mother to her siblings.
She moved to Tangent in 1929 with her father and stepmother and 15 other children.
She married in 1931
There she met and married Leon Beaudoin on Oct. 27, 1931.
They homesteaded north of Tangent.
“Work would never kill you” was her motto
Lucienne’s motto was “work would never kill you”.
She was a great example.
Worked hard and
always helped others and hospitable
Lucienne was a hard worker, always helping others.
She loved to bake, and cook, and lots of friends enjoyed her hospitality.
She loved gardening, her flowers, sewing, knitting, quilting, and embroidery which she did until her last few years.
Lucienne had lots of wisdom and love.
She enjoyed making people laugh.
Lucienne was a loving mother, mémère, grandmémère, and great-grandmémère.
We will all miss her.
She is predeceased by her mother, father, husband Leon in 1987, daughter Irene Kurtroski in 1988, brother Napolean Granger, sisters Alice Portelance, Germain Chenard, two half brothers, two half sisters, and two stepbrothers.
Lucienne leaves to mourn her sons Gerald (Hilda) Beaudoin of Olds and Armand (Therese) Beaudoin of Tangent, nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 10great-great-grand- children, and six half sisters.
Funeral services were held in Tangent at Sts. Martyrs Canadiens Roman Catholic Church on Nov. 2 with Reverend David Ngondo and Deacon Reg Bouchard officiating.
Ginette Aubin was soloist.
Pallbearers were Claude Beaudoin, Maurice Beaudoin, Fabian Beaudoin, Ken Chalmers, Jason Roach, and Roger Girard.
Interment followed at Sts. Martyrs Canadiens Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Chapel of Memories in Peace River.
