Gracia Brassard, 1932 - 2007

Gracia Therese Brassard, late of Peace River, Alberta, and former longtime resident of Jean Cote, passed away in Peace River on July 3, 2007 at 75 years of age. Gracia was born in Lac St. Jean, Quebec. Arrived in Smoky River region in 1946 She moved to the Smoky River and Peace River area in 1946 in the small hamlet of Jean Cote with her parents Thomas and Adelaide Sasseville and 13 other siblings. She is survived by her children Monique (Les) Hotston of Peace River, Jacqueline (Dennis) Lindgren of Donnelly, Martin Brassard of Jean Cote, John (Janice) Brassard of Tangent, Carole (Garry) Leathem of Fairview, and 10 grandchildren – Christopher, Patrick, Jason, Melissa, Jennifer, Jeremy, Roger Jr., Victoria, Travis, and Branden. Gracia leaves behind nine brothers, four sisters, and many nieces and nephews. Gracia was predeceased by her husband Jacques and son Roger. Funeral services were held on July 7 in Peace River at Lady of Peace Catholic Church. Interment followed at Jean Cote Cemetery. All donations were given to cancer research (YL Country radio). Funeral arrangements for cremation were under the direction of Chapel of Memories in Peace River.
