Caitlin Brulotte, 2001 - 2007

Caitlin Brulotte of Girouxville, Alberta, passed away November 11, 2007 in Edmonton at six years of age. Caitlin was born on May 11, 2001 in McLennan, Alberta. Caitlin is survived by her parents Dwayne and Monique Brulotte, brother Wade, and sister Alexis. Caitlin was a truly unforgettable young lady For anyone who ever met Caitlin, she was truly unforgettable. From her bright smile and infectious laugh, to her grunts of disapproval, Caitlin’s desires were clearly communicated without a single word. We never found a toy that Caitlin really liked – she was a social bunny from day one. And not just any bunny, but a beautiful little girl. Caitlin loved all people Caitlin loved all people but had a real soft spot for men with deep voices. Caitlin would instantly turn on the charm when someone like Ecole Heritage vice-principal Mr. Dominic Jean was close by. There were two extra-special men in Caitlin’s life; number one of course was her Dad, and in a very close second was her big brother Wade. When no one else could console Caitlin, all we had to do was sit her beside Wade in her rocking chair and all was well. Caitlin’s big sister, Lexi, fondly recalls laying next to her on the floor and making her laugh – those belly laughs couldn’t be topped by anything. Caitlin’s laugh echoed through every activity we enjoyed together. Cailin loved mule rides, with a huge smile and squeals of delight Caitlin loved dancing, water slides, snowmobiling, hunting, mule rides – the faster the better – all you would see was a huge smile and hear squeals of delight. Last year marked one of the most important milestones of a young child’s life – Caitlin started kindergarten. This amazing group of little people brought a special twinkle to Caitlin’s eyes that we had never seen before. School brought with it medicinal value unrivalled by anything else in Caitlin’s life. Many people have also enriched not only Caitlin’s life but ours as a family. We have been blessed to always have the appropriate people enter our lives at precisely the right time. Caitlin lucked out to be so openly accepted by her entire respite family – it was like having an extra aunt, uncle, and cousin who happened to live locally. Family renews belief in the goodness of humanity A journey like ours truly renews our belief in the goodness of humanity – everyone we have encountered appeared to go beyond the call of duty to make Caitlin and us as comfortable as possible. We have shed many tears in the past few days and we’re sad to see our princess go. I know Caitlin wouldn’t want us to cry for her because I’m sure she must have jumped into Auntie Bertha’s arms and isn’t wasting a single minute in catching up on all the singing, dancing, running, and jumping that she couldn’t do here. Good bye, baby girl, we love you.
