Falher, Alberta

Rene Brulotte, 1943-2008

Rene Brulotte was born on July 10, 1943 in Girouxville, Alberta. He was the fourth child of Emilienne Fortier and Emile Brulotte. He passed away in Girouxville on December 6, 2008. Rene attended school in Girouxville, Guy and the Falher college. After school he started working for farmers from spring to fall and in lumber camps in winter. In 1964, he bought a homestead and married Henriette Valiquette in 1971. Soon after, they had their first child, Dwayne . They then moved to Beaverlodge and Sexsmith where Rene worked for U.G.G. They moved back to Girouxville in 1974, where Rene worked for Falher Alfalfa. Their second child Lisa was born. In 1980, Rene started working for Alberta Transportation / LaPrairie Group. He worked for the company for 27 years. For Rene, growing up on the farm was a daily adventure often leading him into challenging mischievous endeavours that warranted him dire consequences. And it’s not just a coincidence that he was nicknamed the Fire Chief. He was a party clown with a good sense of humour and loved to tease anybody that crossed his path. It could be an elderly at the Villa, a child, his sisters or his coffee shop buddies. He had a great love for the outdoors, where you could find him hunting, fishing, trapping, quading or snowmobiling with his beloved children and grandchildren, whom he lived for and loved very much. You could also find him in the kitchen perfecting his cooking skills by adding his secret ingredients to his delicious moose meat pies or grilling moose steaks on an open fire at the lake. Throughout his life he remained a loyal, trusted friend, a loving father and grandfather, son and brother. He was a simple man, with simple pleasures and a big heart. We will miss this humble man. He was predeceased by his grand-daughter Caitlin, his father Emile and nephew Hector. He is survived by his son Dwayne (Monique), daughter Lisa Gordon (Mike), grandchildren; Wade and Alexis Brulotte, Sarah and Amy Gordon, mother Emilienne, three brothers and two sisters. Funeral services for the late Rene Brulotte were held December 12, 2008 in Notre Dame de Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Girouxville, Alberta with Father Charles Lavoie officiating. Cremation followed with interment at a later date. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Chapel of Memories, Peace River.
