Maurice Dubois, 1927-2008

Maurice Dubois resident of Falher passed away on Nov. 3, 2008 in Peace River hospital at the age of 80. Maurice was born on December 10, 1927 at Windsor, Quebec. Maurice was predeceased by his father Elzear Dubois (1987), mother Bernadette Dubois (1994), sister Lena St. Laurent (1993), two grand-daughters Nicole Dubois (1991) and Colette Dubois (2002). Maurice is survived by wife Pauline Dubois (Falher), four sons; Norman Dubois (Falher), Roger (Jeanette) Dubois (Falher), Victor (Barb) Dubois (Berwyn, Gilbert (Celine) Dubois (Marie Reine), two daughters; Marilyn (Bob) Schultz (Edmonton), Diane (Rene) Dubrule (McLennan), two brothers Gerald (Marie) Dubois, Pierre Dubois. Six sisters; Dolores Doris, Julienne Butz, Jeannine Dumont, Bernadette (Richard Bessette) Hebert, France (Tony) Stevens, Pierrette (Norman) Charest, 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services for the late Maurice Dubois were held on Nov. 8, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. from the St. Anne Roman Catholic Church with Reverend Charles Lavoie officiating. Music Ministry Ginette Aubin. Honorary pallbearers were Edward Dubois, Mark Dubois, Jason Cunningham, Shaun Cunningham, Claude Dubois, and Danny Dubois. Interment followed at the Jean Cote cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Chapel of Memories in Peace River. Maurice lived most of his younger life in Jean Cote. During his childhood he learned to work hard with his dad Elzear Dubois working in the bush sawing logs and many other chores, mainly dealing with horses. His dad was also a brick layer, and Maurice learned the trade and as well learned to be a carpenter. He loved to work with wood, and built the first house in Jean Cote and built another one in Marie Reine which they lived in for a while. He loved to go help his brother-in-laws Lucien Roy and Romeo Roy on the trapline. He loved to make big gardens. In later years, he started to paint as a hobby. He painted each of his children a masterpiece. He later decided to write a book about his life called, ‘My Voyage’. He always kept busy with something, but most of all he enjoyed family gathering with his kids, grandchildren and many friends.
